Heartstring Dolls

One of the smaller dolls that lives here at Rose Cottage is Thomas - Heartstrings Tommy.  I first introduced him properly on 'How Many Dolls' blog back in 2015, (which you can read here) although he has been featured on that blog since about 2013, having arrived here back in 2012 I think it was.

For quite a few years he has been on his own, hoping and waiting for a friend.

He has often been spotted at the door looking out and waiting....

Until one day...

Much to his delight when he opened the door one morning who should be standing on the doorstep but a long lost friend!

He can't quite believe his eyes.  Are you really here?  He says

They have been playing together ever since she arrived and are rarely seen apart from each other.

They really are the best of friends.

One of the projects I want to focus on this year is making these two little dolls some more clothes and maybe find a few more props for them.

  1. These are both cuties! I'm thinking about buying one this year, only I don't know where to get them.

    1. You are in the USA aren't you? Should be easier for you I would think, although I am not quite sure where...you could try Jo's Doll Shop http://www.josdollshoppe.net/ for starters. I couldn't have got one from the USA. I was lucky that Thomas was sold by a shop in France but that was about four years ago and they haven't had them in stock for ages. The little girl I was lucky enough to buy from a shop here.

    2. Thank you! I had previously checked out that site and it looked rather empty. I guess since it seems like a one woman operation the stock must come and go. I'm glad you were able to get the dolls where you live.

    3. I just received a notification from Jo's Doll Shoppe, and she has several dolls in stock. I think one of her links is dead, which gives the impression that she is out of stock. Try this link:

There were several available, including the undressed dolls.

  2. They're very cute - wonderful expressions! I love Tommy's outfit. They are also very small compared to what I'm used to.

  3. What is Tommy's new friend called? They are cute and I'll be interested to see what you make for them in the coming months.

    1. Her name is Poppy. I am wondering whether your Lexie pattern will fit them? I will have to have a try.

    2. I think the Jenny/Lexie pattern will fit them, you could always adjust the length of sleeves or body length below the sleeves if necessary, though by the looks of it you probably won't need to do that. You will need 2 ply wool and 1.5mm needles though.

    3. it would be interesting to compare them side by side with Jenny, Lexie, Annie, Emily and my Patsi dolls.

  4. Aw, she is so sweet. She is Jacke, isn't she? I just checked Jo's shop, and it looks like she is out of stock right now, probably due to Christmas.

I have two of these dear dolls. I don't play with them often, but I love looking at them. One is brunette with a French braid, and the other is a red head :-) I'm so happy that Tommy finally has a friend.

    warmly,

    Beth

    1. Yes she is Simply Jackie. She came with out clothes, so I will have to get cracking and make some for her. At least with a couple they will be able to interact with each other so hopefully a few little story lines in the future. Thomas has been quite lonely on his own.

  5. Really fetching dolls! I like Thomas' shirt and coat. I'd think sewing for their size would be mostly by hand. I imagine Thomas is so happy to have found a friend at last - after all, he's been waiting a very long time!

    1. Isn't his outfit wonderful?! Just as well as he hasn't had anything else to wear. I did make him his first sweater last night though.
